I am a proponent of the centralised, because it's all I know,

Here are my doubts on decentralized,

How powerful / easily upgradable is the "in cam" software ?

There is so many different camera for every use, Why don't you sell your product as a "in wall buffer + IP converter" that would accept any analog signal ?

As I see it, I'll be keep recording on a NAS anyway, so it's just an added redundancy, (the buffer sd card)

@transciouss

The MOBOTIX decentralized platform is not reliant on hardware chipsets to perform the main functions, so all new tech can be introduced via software upgrades - for free! The in-camera software has provision for both general firmware upgrades & VMS management (recording/alarm/event/storage ) function upgrades - by a simple download to the camera from mobotix.com.

Using MxServer you can integrate a range of third party digitizers/encoders and IP cameras into a MOBOTIX system.

@theipacademy
Are you able to upgrade many different Mobotix cameras at once, retaining all settings?

@bjeah yes you can. it's easy using MxControlCenter to do batch setting changes. In MxControlCenter >> Video Sources >> hold down Shift key and select all the cameras that you want to configure simultaneously.
